Ranking of the World's Top Ten Semiconductors in 2016

Intel

Intel's top spot remains unshakable, with revenue expected to reach US$56.313 billion this year, an 8% increase from US$55.4 billion in 2015. At this point, the gap between Samsung and Intel will be narrowed from 24% in 2015 to 29%.

Samsung

According to IC Insights' forecast data, Samsung's estimated revenue this year will reach US$43.53 billion, an increase of 4% from 2015. Affected by the Note mobile phone recall, Samsung Electronics' net profit fell to 4.41 trillion won (approximately US$3.9 billion) in the third quarter of 2016, a year-on-year decrease of 17%. Samsung Electronics' mobile division's operating profit in the third quarter was 100 billion won, a 96% decrease from 2.4 trillion won in the same period last year, setting a record low.
