Wuxi, Jiangsu Will Unify Local Standards for Photoelectric Conversion Rate of Solar Photovoltaic Modules

Two local standards proposed by Wuxi, Jiangsu, "Photovoltaic Module Photoelectric Conversion Efficiency Test Method" and "Determination of Trace Element Content in Solar Grade Silicon - Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometer Method" are currently approved by the Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision. After project approval, it enters the standard draft preparation stage.


It is understood that the photoelectric conversion efficiency of solar photovoltaic modules is an important indicator that reflects the quality of solar photovoltaic products, and is also one of the important basis for the national policy to support solar photovoltaic. Industry experts say that although China is currently a major producer of crystalline silicon solar cells, there has been no unified standard for measuring the photoelectric conversion rate of photovoltaic modules for a long time.


In March this year, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development issued the "Interim Measures for the Management of Fiscal Subsidy Funds for Solar Photovoltaic Building Applications" and the "Guidelines for Application of Solar Photovoltaic Building Application Demonstration Projects" respectively, requiring that the power generation rate of solar photovoltaic products that receive financial quota subsidies must be Reaching the advanced level, the conversion efficiency of monocrystalline silicon battery modules exceeds 16%, polycrystalline silicon exceeds 14%, and amorphous silicon exceeds 6%.


The National Solar Photovoltaic Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (Wuxi Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Institute) has formulated relevant local standards based on the above regulations. Staff said that the standards will unify the evaluation of component conversion efficiency and promote the improvement of solar cell production and packaging technology. Promote the overall development of Jiangsu’s photovoltaic industry.


Data show that in 2008, China's crystalline silicon solar photovoltaic products reached 2,573 MW, accounting for about 25% of the global total production. Domestically, Jiangsu's solar photovoltaic product output has reached 1,557 MW, accounting for about 60% of the country's total output.
