Xi'an Semipower Laboratory Holds Power Device Testing and Reliability Technology Training with Far-Reaching Impact

As we all know, in the past when testing equipment was insufficient, components for some military and even aerospace products were mainly selected through manual screening.


The disadvantages of manual screening are obvious. On the one hand, the product cost is high, and on the other hand, the reliability is not high enough. With the development of China's domestic components, many of these companies have integrated military and civilian products. Therefore, it is necessary for domestic component companies to have a more comprehensive knowledge of reliability testing and failure analysis. Xi'an Semipower Laboratory, China's first national-level power device laboratory, recently held the first series of semiconductor power device testing and reliability technology training in Xi'an, making a great contribution to cultivating talents for the industry. The following is an exclusive interview conducted by this publication with Luo Yi, general manager of Xi'an Semipower Laboratory.


Q: What kind of laboratory is Xi'an Semipower Laboratory?


Luo Yi: The Xi'an power device laboratory invested and constructed by our company has completed the first and second phases of investment of 20 million yuan, and the equipment is basically in place. The laboratory opened on November 16, 2011, and since it was put into use, it has been reviewed and recognized as a municipal and provincial key enterprise engineering technology center by the Xi'an Municipal Development and Reform Commission and the Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and as a municipal engineering demonstration center by the Xi'an Municipal Industry and Information Technology Commission. . Our laboratory has cooperated with the US STI (the leader in static parameter testing equipment and a participant in the formulation of US military standards), ITC (the leader in avalanche testing and dynamic testing in the industry and the US military standard setter) and Qualmark Company (the US military leader in reliability testing). Providers of solutions and equipment in the aerospace field) have established cooperative laboratory relationships.


Q: What is the theme of Semipower’s semiconductor power device testing and reliability technical training? Training time and place? What is the specific method? Where do the training experts invited for event training come from?


Luo Yi: In order to promote our cooperation with relevant brother units, provide a platform for joint learning and discussion between brother units, and also hope to provide everyone with an opportunity to learn and communicate with foreign companies, our company Xi'an Power Devices From June 12 to 15, the laboratory collaborated with relevant technical directors and technical leaders of foreign cooperative laboratories to organize a series of semiconductor power device testing and reliability technology training.


This intensive training will be conducted by equipment developers on DC parameter testing technology and parameter analysis of high-power devices, avalanche testing technology and parameter analysis, dynamic parameter testing technology and analysis of devices, steady-state thermal resistance testing technology of devices, and device reliability Theoretical and practical issues in environmental testing are provided with corresponding technical training and in-depth discussions with researchers and engineers in the industry, and on-site explanations and question answering are provided based on the STI, ITC, AnalysisTECH and Votsch equipment in our experimental center.


Q: What is the background and purpose of this training conducted by Semipower Lab? What achievements have been achieved? What help does it provide to Chinese semiconductor manufacturers and complete system manufacturers? Where do the engineers who receive training mainly come from?


Luo Yi: The semiconductor power device testing technology training meeting organized by Xi'an Semipower was officially launched on June 13, 2012, and successfully concluded on the 15th, lasting three days. Postscript: There is a rumor in the industry that the product qualification rate of some component manufacturers is unstable, and their sales departments deal with customers by providing more products than ordered, instead of finding ways to improve quality.
